Recession, Business & Surviving the Economy
The business environment in Alberta is difficult to say the least. Lower oil prices are impacting the economy hugely and we have new governments that are creating uncertainty.
We, as business owners need to do everything possible, that is to say “leave no stone unturned” in order to ensure our businesses survive and prosper in these turbulent times.
Over the next few weeks we will be publishing a series of articles that may provide you with ideas on how to deal with important aspects of your business. Much of the material in these articles you will already know or be aware of – but sometimes we just need a reminder to prompt action that is badly needed.
The first article in our series will deal with Stress, Anxiety and Panic.
As accountants we definitely experience stress from time to time (especially tax season) but we felt we were not in a position to speak with authority on the topic. We reached out to Patricia Miller, Clinical Social Work/Therapist, MSW, MA, Psych, PhD(c), who generously agreed to tackle the subject – one that she deals with on a daily basis.
“I have read through the article a few times – I can say it is really interesting and worthwhile; and, Yes, I do have some (thankfully not all) of the markers of stress (there are 14 signs identified in the article); and Yes, I need to look at doing many of the 25 remedies that Patricia says will help to mitigate the stress. I am on it :)”
